State Capitol, Albany N. Y.
Antique postcard from the private collection of Valerie Mockaitis.
Published by Illustrated Post Card, New York, circa 1910.
It is not unusual for colors to be inaccurate in these old
postcards since they were created from black-and-white photos.
The terra cotta tiles do not show in this one because the postcard artist painted the whole
roof green.

Albany, N. Y.
Grand Staircase & Capitol Grounds.
Antique postcard published circa 1905 by H. C. Leighton Co., Portland, Me. Manufacturers of Postal Cards. Made in Germany
Postcards of exterior features of our state capitols were not very common, but this staircase was famous. The huge capitol building was starting to slide downhill, so this equally huge staircase was constructed to anchor the building in place. The entrance to the capitol on this side was changed to a higher level in the process.
