The Ohio State Capitol. Columbus, O.
Antique postcard from the private collection of Valerie Mockaitis.
Published by Raphael Tuck & Sons circa 1905. Printed in England.
This scene is typical of a Tuck postcard.
Pedestrians and foliage were added to make an
otherwise uneventful building view quite appealing.

Ohio State Capitol, Columbus, Oh.
Antique postcard published circa 1900.
This simple view of the state capitol shows the building much better than most, thanks in part to the lack of leaves on the trees.

Columbus, Ohio. State Capitol.
Antique postcard published circa 1905 by Raphael Tuck & Sons. Printed in Germany.
This view almost certainly was produced from the same photo as the one below. The details match, except for the pedestrians and carriages. Those in the view below are also here, and several have been added, along with light and telephone poles, and leaves on the trees.

State Capitol. Columbus, O.
Antique, Undivided Back postcard published circa 1905 by The Rochester News Company, Rochester, N.Y. U.S.A. Printed in Leipzig, Dresden.
It is interesting that the location of this capitol as written on the card is "Columbus, O." While Oklahoma probably had not yet become a state (1907), Oregon certainly was (1859). The postcards at the top and bottom of this page, as well as the night view below, note the state the same way.
This view and the one above show the annex that was completed in 1901 (right side of structure).

Antique, embossed postcard published circa 1905 by S. Langsdorf & Co. Publishing, New York, N. Y. Made in Germany.
This view is from a series of state capitol views all with the same embossed border. Postcards were so popular, they were sold in sets, some as large as one each of the 45 capitols of the time.

Showing the added cars in combination with the horse-drawn carriage is a unique touch in this view.
