South Carolina State Capitol
From the book, The Great South
Published by American Publishing Co., 1875.
This illustration is probably based on an architect's sketch
since it shows the South Carolina state house with
a tower instead of the drum and dome it actually has.
During construction, many different architects were
used. One of them changed the plan to a dome instead of the tower,
but the rest of the plan shown was largely followed.
