Beware of Firefox!
A great deal of effort has been put into making the image and informational pages of this site printer-friendly. However, in Firefox by Mozilla, only the first state's section on any informational page (Telling Them Apart, What's On Top) and some other pages (Favorites) will print.
At this time, there doesn't seem to be a reasonable way for this webmaster to fix this problem. My only recommendation is to print from Internet Explorer. (Plugging the big guy wasn't exactly what I wanted to have to do here, by the way.)
Printing Notes and Tips
Always check in Print Preview before printing pages from the Internet.
What you see is not necessarily what you get when printing. Checking the preview will give you a chance to fix some minor problems or just forget the whole thing if you can't get what you want. It also will show you which page(s) to print if you don't need the whole site page. Unfortunately, Print Preview is not foolproof, but it helps in most cases.
Did you know you have some control over how pages from the Internet print?
¤ In Internet Explorer, go to Tools on the top task bar, click on Internet Options, click on the Advanced tab, and scroll down to the Printing section of the list. Be sure the "Print background colors and images" box is not checked (unless you really want all the background colors and images), and click on OK. This will save a ton of ink and time when printing.
¤ Click on File in the top task bar and click on Page Setup. If the page(s) you want to print had a bit cut off the right side in Print Preview, make the left and right margins smaller. If just a bit of the bottom was cut off, make the top and bottom margins smaller. Changing the orientation to landscape might help with really wide site pages (not this site).
How this site is prepared for printing.
¤ The new format for Internet pages is much wider than my current one. I have not changed my site (which would be a monumental task anyway) because printing effectively would become impossible.
¤ The extra and unnecessary portions of most pages will be hidden when printing.
¤ There are page breaks so the sections on each state will not be split between pages. (Oh, if you run across one that breaks in a bad place, let me know. I might be able to help. Just see the Contact page; I check my site email daily.)
¤ Making the left and right margins in the Page Setup 0.5 inches instead of 0.75 inches has taken care of any width problem I have encountered here.
Just trying to be helpful!
